Once famous for being the home of Bob Hope and other celebrities, Toluca Lake an oasis of quiet in the bustling East San Fernando Valley.
Real Estate: The neighborhood is named for a lake that is surrounded by residential homes and the Lakeview Golf Club. The Toluca Lake Property Owners Association is dedicated to protecting the character and “village” atmosphere of the community since 1923.
Community Life: Toluca Lake is full of many of the pleasures of small-town life including an annual holiday event along Riverside Drive. Popular NBC-4 weatherman Fritz Coleman is the honorary mayor of Toluca Lake. The Toluca Lake Farmer’s Market is held on Sunday mornings. The Chandler Bike Path connects Toluca Lake with North Hollywood and Burbank. The Tolucan Times, one of the oldest papers in the San Fernando Valley, has served the area since 1937. Riverside Drive is one of the best streets in the Valley for boutique shopping.
Education: The Los Angeles section of Toluca Lake is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District while the Burbank section is part of the Burbank Unified School District. There are just two schools within Toluca Lake: Toluca Lake Elementary School and Toluca Crossroads School.
Transportation: Toluca Lake can be reached by the 101 and 5 Freeways. The area is served by approximately four public bus routes.
Local Attractions: Toluca Lake is mostly a residential area but is located near Universal Studios, Warner Brothers Studios, Falcon Theatre and other key attractions. The original Bob’s Big Boy restaurant is located in Burbank but often ascribed to Toluca Lake.
